Mazamba Youth Hockey Tournament Series Information
The Mazamba Youth Hockey Tournament Series is open to all levels of youth hockey players, boys and girls, throughout the United States. The tournament will begin in late March, 2010, in the Detroit metro area, Michigan, prior to the NCAA “Frozen Four “* tournament.
Players will be chosen to represent their state and/or region on a Select Team, after tryouts and player evaluations are completed. Additionally, each State Select Team will have a maximum of two (2) goalies and eighteen (18) players per team. Each team will also have four (4) alternates selected.
Each State and/or Region will have up to a maximum of 44 State Select teams competing in the Youth Tournament Series. Individual awards and recognitions for players will also be awarded throughout the tournament.
Due to the size of this tournament, the number of players who are able to tryout in each state and/or region will be limited to a maximum of 400 players per division for boys, and 120 players per division for girls. The tournament format will be round robin in the early rounds to generate seeds for the quarter finals. In round robin play, a win is awarded 2 points, a tie is awarded 1 point and losses are awarded with 0 points. After round robin play, after seeds are assigned to the top teams in each division, all games will elimination only until a divisional youth tournament champion emerges.
Each player that registers to tryouts must be a registered USA Hockey player. Please see registration information for more specifics and other eligibility rules.
Refunds shall only be given to players who register, but are not assigned to a tryout location due to maximum participation numbers in each division, per state/region, being reached or is not accepted for eligibility reasons. Refunds will be returned in the form payment for registration was originally made, thirty (30) days after registration is closed.
